Rockstar has published further details about GTA 6 editions and preloading. Box buyers should note one key distinction: the packaging contains a download code, not a disc. Buying a boxed copy still requires downloading the game files for the appropriate PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S console.[3]
Two editions of the same base game
The Standard Edition contains GTA VI. Ultimate adds vehicles, weapons and apparel connected to Jason and Lucia’s story. These two characters are central to the plot set in Leonida. Rockstar announces US prices of $79.99 and $99.99 respectively. Those prices do not establish the amount charged by a German storefront.[3][1]
Ultimate can be added later
Rockstar does not list a physical Ultimate Edition. After redeeming a Standard Edition box code, players can purchase the Ultimate upgrade separately. Extra game content can therefore be added after the initial purchase. That upgrade is distinct from the Vice City Collection, a physical merchandise set which does not include the game.[3]
Which extras does Ultimate include?
The detailed editions page names specific extras: a Dinka Enduro motorcycle and Crest Kayak at Jason’s safehouse, a special Shitzu Squalo boat variant and personalized pistols. Jason receives an engraved Girardi ES9, while Lucia gets a Klose K17. Businesses are part of the package too: Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor offers tattoos for both characters, while Sara’s Unisex Salon provides hairstyles and other styling options. Rockstar says both businesses open only with Ultimate. The edition comparison and linked database profiles contain the complete list.[2]
Download November 12, play November 19
Digital preorders can begin preloading at local midnight on November 12. The download-code box is also scheduled to become available on November 12. That head start is for downloading files; the announced playable launch remains November 19, 2026. Those dates alone do not tell you the file size or how long your download will take.[3][1][4]
